Art as Yoga
Yogic Arts Conference 2026
Feb 8th, 2026
Venue
UNC Charlotte Cone Center Lucas Room
09:30 AM. - 5:00 PM
The Yogic Arts Conference warmly welcomes students, faculty, and community members to explore how Indian performing arts are deeply rooted in Yoga. Participants will engage the living practices of Carnatic and Hindustani music alongside the expressive dance traditions of Bharatanāṭyam, Odissi, Sattriya, and Kuchipudi.
Sessions will illuminate how Indian arts translate yogic principles into sound and movement, integrating attention, breath, and feeling into embodied practice. They will trace how music and dance draw on India’s sacred geography, invite contemplation through meditative music and movement, and cultivate belonging through expressions of aesthetic moods (rasas). The emphasis is on the journey from visible performance to the inner discipline that steadies the mind and opens the heart.
Featuring an inspiring keynote and interactive, hands-on sessions, this gathering foregrounds essential foundations while remaining accessible and engaging. Hosted by the Pranava Arts Collective in collaboration with Hindu Yuva UNCC, it offers a rare opportunity to experience the integration of Yoga within Indian music and dance, with insights that resonate well beyond the stage.
Ages 10 and up.
